Discover Cuốn - Vietnamese Street Food

If you’re a fan of authentic, flavorful street food, Cuốn - Vietnamese Street Food in Portland is a must-visit destination. Nestled at 600 SW 4th Ave, Portland, OR 97204, this cozy eatery brings the vibrant flavors of Vietnam directly to your plate. Whether you’re a seasoned fan of Vietnamese cuisine or new to it, there’s something for everyone here, with a menu that offers a delightful mix of traditional street food favorites and creative twists.

The heart of Cuốn - Vietnamese Street Food lies in its commitment to delivering the fresh, bold flavors that are the hallmark of Vietnamese culinary traditions. One of the most popular items on the menu is, of course, the Vietnamese spring rolls-also known as cuốn. These rolls are a fantastic introduction to the restaurant’s offerings, as they perfectly encapsulate the essence of Vietnamese street food. They are packed with fresh herbs, crisp vegetables, and your choice of proteins, all wrapped in a delicate rice paper that offers a satisfying contrast to the vibrant filling.

As you step into the restaurant, the atmosphere feels inviting and casual, much like a traditional Vietnamese street food stall you might encounter in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. The space is cozy, with an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs expertly prepare your meal. The menu features an array of dishes, from classic pho bowls to banh mi sandwiches, each made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

One of the things that sets Cuốn - Vietnamese Street Food apart is their dedication to quality and authenticity. The pho broth, for example, is simmered for hours to extract deep, rich flavors, resulting in a bowl of soup that’s aromatic and comforting. It’s a dish that speaks to the restaurant’s attention to detail and its desire to provide customers with a genuine taste of Vietnam.

Another standout item on the menu is their banh mi, a Vietnamese sandwich that has gained popularity worldwide in recent years. At Cuốn, the banh mi is a harmonious blend of savory grilled meats, pickled vegetables, cilantro, and a dash of spicy mayo, all sandwiched between a perfectly crispy baguette. It’s the perfect balance of textures and flavors, and one bite will make it clear why this dish has become a global sensation.

Customer reviews often highlight the friendly service and the quick turnaround time, making it an ideal stop for a quick yet satisfying meal. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and eager to recommend dishes based on your preferences. Whether you’re craving something light and fresh or hearty and comforting, they’ve got you covered.

For those looking for something a bit different, Cuốn - Vietnamese Street Food also offers a variety of vegetarian and vegan options. The tofu spring rolls, made with marinated tofu, fresh herbs, and rice noodles, are a favorite among plant-based diners, offering a perfect balance of flavors and textures without compromising on taste.

What makes Cuốn - Vietnamese Street Food truly special, however, is its ability to transport you to the streets of Vietnam with every bite. It’s not just about the food-it’s about the experience. The lively atmosphere, the bustling kitchen, and the tantalizing aromas wafting through the air create a sensory experience that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a Vietnamese food market, all while enjoying the comfort of a local Portland gem.

Whether you’re stopping by for a quick lunch or sitting down for a leisurely dinner, Cuốn - Vietnamese Street Food offers a satisfying meal that doesn’t skimp on authenticity or flavor. The next time you’re in Portland, make sure to visit 600 SW 4th Ave to enjoy a taste of Vietnam in the heart of the city. You won’t be disappointed by the vibrant, fresh flavors that define this unique and welcoming eatery.

  • 8 stars if it were possible! Absolutely fantastic service, everyone was friendly and warm, we got the gigantic crispy pork banh mi and let me tell you as a Vietnamese person from Southern California, this sandwich is perfect. The baguette has a perfectly crispy shell, the soft white inner absorbed the sauces well without becoming soggy, the pickled veggies were refreshing bright and retained a good crunch.... And the star of the show, the crispy pork. They do NOT cheap out on the amount of pork and the skin was perfectly light, airy, and crunchy without any hardness or chewiness like you would commonly encounter with any roasted pork. Perfection.

  • If you're in downtown Portland and need a break from shopping, this is the place to be. It's super close to places like Muji, Zara, and Pioneer Place -- to name a few. There's a good amount of seating, and it's a nice change of pace from the city. It's very low-key inside and a great place to eat alone or with a few friends. The staff is super friendly and helpful when choosing what to order. My friends and I didn't have to wait too long either for our food which was great since we were starving! There are a few parking garages nearby and street pay to park near the restaurant. The spring rolls as an appetizer are a must! They're SO good, especially their tempura. It's light and crispy. It was the perfect snack before our meal. Cuốn is a little pricier than your average pho shop, but considering you're in the city and the amount of food they give you, you won't be complaining. The pho was also very clean tasting and some of the best broth I've had from a pho place. We were all full AND satisfied by the end of the meal. I had a great experience here, and I will be coming back for more!

  • Absolutely BEST Vietnamese food my family and I ever had! Family was in Portland for Spring Break vacation and chose here based off of reviews. It didn’t disappoint at all!! The restaurant was pristine and decent sized dining area. Service was excellent and owners were so friendly! Ordered the Beef Pho, Chicken Pho and the Vermicelli Noodles w/ Grilled Lemongrass Pork and Shrimp. Everything was DELICIOUS and we have had legit Vietnamese food all over the West Coast. Also thank you for the recommendation to go see the Cherry Blossom trees at the Waterfront!!! Was definitely worth the walk!!! We will be back!!

  • Exceptionally clean and inviting corner restaurant! Bright, sunny windows and AC to complement the rays. The vegetarian spring rolls were large and had grilled tofu-with a lovely, subtle seasoning. The fresh veggies (lettuce, cucumber and spearmint) pared nicely with the noodles. The free hot tea or water station was clean and refreshing. Definitely a place we’ll visit again!

  • 4.5 - Pho tasted really good. However, the portion size was a little small. Chicken wings were average. Service is good and atmosphere is nice.

  • We had some of the best pho here! The portions were very large and generous, which 2 can spilt in the future. This is especially true if you add an appetizer as well. Our cashier recommended the pork belly, and wow it was exceptional. Highly recommend!

  • First trip to Portland- we were lost and hangry, and SO glad we stumbled upon Cuon. The pork belly appetizer was incredible. Entrees were delicious, got a noodle beef galbi bowl and chicken and meatball rice bowl. Next time we’re in Portland we’re visiting again!
